The Grupo de Filosofía Política (GFP, Spanish for Political Philosophy Group) began its activities in 2006 as a reading and discussion forum on notable works in contemporary political philosophy. It held periodical meetings at the School of Philosophy and Literature of the University of Buenos Aires under the supervision of Graciela Vidiella.
As of 2009 it moved its seat to the Centro de Investigaciones Filosóficas (CIF, Spanish for Centre of Philosophical Research) and extended its activities by starting several academically recognized research projects, organizing conferences and international symposiums and setting up different online publications.
It is currently formed by more than fifteen young academics, including professors, graduate and undergraduate students who do research in contemporary political philosophy. The GFP has strong links with renowned research institutions both in Argentina and the rest of the world, such us the Sociedad Argentina de Análisis Filosófico (SADAF, Spanish for Argentinean Society of Philosophical Analysis), University College London and Concordia University. In this way, it has become a reference group in the practice of argumentative political philosophy within the region.
